Details

The Piper PA-18 Super Cub is a two-seat, single-engine monoplane. It was developed from the Piper PA-11. In close to 40 years of production, over 9,000 were built. Super Cubs are commonly found in roles such as bush flying, banner towing and glider towing.
As a relative of the popular 1400mm J-3 Cub, the 1700mm PA-18 Super Cub retains great flight characteristics while offering increased power and wingspan.
Thanks to its functional flaps, high-lift airfoil, rugged landing gear and oversized balloon tires- the 1700mm PA-18 Super Cub has impressive short take-off and landing (STOL) performance, allowing it to operate from just about any terrain.
Utilizing the latest FMS hardware and design, the 1700mm PA-18 Super Cub has pre-installed ball-link type pushrods, integrated servo connectors in the wing structure and can be assembled very easily using no glue at all.

For pilots wanting to get the genuine bush-plane experience, the PA-18 Super Cub can be equipped with floats.

Versatile, fun and exceptionally relaxing to fly- the 1700mm PA-18 Super Cub is a great addition to any fleet!

Features:
1. Powerful 3541- 750KV Outrunner motor with Predator 45A ESC provides adequate thrust for any situation.
2. CNC metal landing gear structure for less-than-perfect landings.
3. 6.25-inch oversized balloon tires for all-terrain operations.
4. STOL capable (Takes off in less than 3m/10ft)
5. Pre-installed navigation and landing lights
6.Two-piece wing and horizontal stabilizer for easy transportation
7. High-strength carbon fiber wing spars
8.Integrated servo connectors
9. Screw-together assembly
10.Large battery bay

I got mine from a hobby shop near my house and it came together fast and easy I love it. But the only thing is i can't get the wing struts out to put in my wing bag but the wing bag is big enough so I don't have to take off the plastic Wing struts overall a I fly this playing anytime I get it

Fit and finish on mine impeccable. Shipping container was damaged but plane was unharmed. Files as good as it looks. Have had some sketchy landings but no problems. Remember our hobby is the only one where you need sunscreen for your teeth cause you are always looking up and grinning. So I say buy buy bye!

I'm a fan of J3 CUB's and PA-18 Super Cubs,and,as this is pretty close to scale,so I purchased it.
I also liked the idea of a plug in connector in each wing instead of having to fool around with wires.
No problems with ''finish'' quality,no shipping damage or EPO dents.
And fast shipping to AU.
Assembly was quick and simple, with only one real problem--the left wing connector was out of alignment with the fuselage connector.
I had to carefully ''bend'' the wing connector pins to ''line up'' with the fuselage pins.
(another buyer above had this same proble).
But,be careful, the wing strut braces are a very tight snap fit and break easily.
Because so much force is required to pop them out(one at a time),as one ''jerked'' out,the other one snapped.
(I would have preferred aluminum wing struts and braces instead of this type of plastic).
I recommend carefully filling a tiny bit off the clip pins so that it pushes in a bit easier and doesn't require ''brute force'' to pull them out.
I rejoined the broken one as follows--carefully drilled both pieces with a 2mm drill about 10mm deep.
Screwed a M2.2 x 22mm self tapper screw into one piece, cut the head off and file around the cut to give it a 45 degree edge,to assist screwing in, and then screwed on the other piece.
Now,wheels size.
The forum guys say these 6.25'' wheels are too big.
I agree with them.
If you look at the size of the ''Tundra'' wheels on real planes on ''airliners.net'' you will notice that there is actually a variation in sizes of these wheels.
Some are very big, and, the 6.25'' wheels would be ''true to scale'' on some planes, but not all.
And,if you notice the size of the wheels on the real plane with this ''mountains'' livery--they are smaller.
I would estimate the true scale wheels for this model would be closer to 5.25''.
Now there are plenty of 5'' wheels out there but they are very expensive and very heavy.
Some of them are 280g for each wheel.
Here's the surprise- FMS has 5'' wheels, and with the correct axle size of 3.5mm.
They belong to their 1400 KINGFISHER.
Unfortunately they are not ''low bounce'' wheels ,but they are the same material as the original 6.25'' ones.
Now, to get the 6.25'' ones off--put a flat head screwdriver against the side of the wheel hub cap(it's fairly thin) and give a firm tap with a hammer and it will pop off.
Remove the E-clip with a very small flat head screwdriver, carefully so as to not lose it.
I put a 3.1 wheel collar(drilled out with a 3.5mm drill) onto the axle first, then the Kingfisher 5'' wheel.
Perfect for the E-clip to put back on.
When I bought this, it did have one major problem--the left wing was bending downwards.
I sent a photo to FMS and they sent me a set of replacement ''straight'' wings very quickly to AU.
I just had to carefully take everything off the bent wing and put onto the new wing, because there are no servos, wires, struts, connector on the new replacement wings.
No big deal though.
Heaps of room for the receiver,I used a LEMON 6ch diversity receiver.
I use them in most of my planes, very reliable and very small.
Cheap too.
I haven't flown it yet,but expect it to be same as a ''trainer''
I prefer this 1700 size for this type of plane.
It can easily be pulled apart for easy transportation and home storage.
The 5'' wheels are still big and fat enough for rough grass fields(as I fly off)
Balancing was very easy with a 4s 2600mah 35c lipo.
I fully recommend this plane to anyone requiring some ''easy cruising'',scale appearance and fun flying.
However, it should have come with horizontal/vertical stabilizer brace wires, because that's what all real Super Cubs have.
I'll add that to mine soon, but I won't use wire, just a strong thin silver polyester type.
FMS has added the wire bracing points on their 1400 J3-Cub, should have done the same on this model too.

From mild to wild, this Super cub will do it all. Light for a 1700mm bird, I fly it with 3300 4S packs and get great flight times. With the throws maxed out it is wonderfully aerobatic and those great big tyres and effective flaps make it a perfect scale bush plane for rough strips and STOL ops. A worthy model of an iconic aircraft, awesome work FMS!

My dream at 6 was to be capable to fly like a bird. Forgive me I was just a kid.
My first plastic airfix model had more glue than plastic at the end of assembly...
At 14, I experienced my first high divingboards.
At 35, I reached 20.5 m and flew 2 seconds diving head first from Corsica clifs.
When endly unboxing the Piper PA-18 Super Cub, I became 6 again ...
I can't wait to fly the bird ...
Beside this, I would like to orientate you to the pleasant website :
"Above Alaska Aviation LLC" ( abovealaska.com)
where the 2016 Alaska Airmen Super Cub Raffle Plane becomes its final look designed by Curt Holler and winning the 2016 Super Cub Paint Scheme Contest.
I'm sure herethrough a lot of pilots will be enthousiast to buy this model ...
Even with the little decal difference on the tail.
Thanks to FMS.

Arrived well packaged, no damage at all during its long trip. Delivery was very quick. Assembly was very straight forward until I got the the wings. The connection pins for the servo's where misaligned. I needed to bend them a little and even then it was a struggle to get them plugged in. First flight only need two clicks of up trim and it was perfect. Nice flying model it and looks great in the air. The only thing that I will modify is the landing gear, its FAR to firm for STOL landings. The suspension needs to be softer and balloon type tires would help as well.

The plane arrived in perfect condition. Assembly took about 20 minutes with another 15-20 minutes to set up the radio. Everything fit exactly as it was meant to fit and the graphics on the plane are really nice. It flys very easily with no bad habits and is more aerobatic than I had anticipated. Knife edge flight is easy with very little roll coupling. Landings with the flaps are fun. It just floats in for nice main gear touchdown. I would recommend this airplane to anyone who wants an airplane for some relaxed fun flying.

It came well packaged, went together quickly. A real gem!
To take it off you have to give it slow throttle or it will as all cubs do, ground loop. Once the tail comes off the ground a slow advance of the throttle will get it airborne. Huge flaps which require an elevator mix to keep it from ballooning. The tires are large but hard, soft tundra tires would have been better. All in all it is a cub , takes off like a cub and flies like a cub!

My CF wing tube is 500 mm long, it does not fill the complete opening. Each wing has an insertion depth of 280 mm, then add 115 mm for fuse width, that adds up to 675 mm! Did I get the wrong wing tube?
