I've flown the FW A-10 64mm plane many times and I decided it was time to go big. I didn't want the big FW A-10 which takes two batteries. I decided on this FMS version.

I went ahead and bought the white version of this plane and painted mine in the arctic camo livery. I did order decals from Callie Graphics to finalize the plane. I went ahead and did the thrust mod, changed out the ESC's, and reinforced the landing gear with thin carbon fiber rectangular plates. With all my planes, I run Spektrum and used the AR636 AS3X gyro in my A-10. I would give it 5 stars here if these minor modifications didn't have to be done or if the plane were to be sold without its power system. However, I do love the FMS 70mm edf inrunner units. One other issue from the factory, is they glued the canopy shut. Because it was a white plane, the internal cockpit was white. I couldn't separate the canopy from the cockpit to paint it inside as well as install the instrument cluster. They glued this part too well. My recommendation to FMS is if someone is buying the white version, please leave the canopy unglued so the user can paint accordingly and then glue the canopy down themselves. I ended up having to spend some more money and buy an already painted and assembled cockpit part.

Maiden flight went very well. It is so quiet!!! The plane flew awesome and smooth. It was such a joy to see in the sky. My experience flying my smaller A-10 over 100 times has helped me with this FMS A-10's flight and landing. The plane can come in super slow with landing flaps, and then touches down very well. I couldn't be happier that the maiden flight went very well. Thereafter, I flew it 4 more times back to back and it flew like it was on rails.

I use a Roaring Top 5800mah 35C 6s battery as far forward as possible. I've increased the timer to 5 minutes. I cruise when I fly and when the timer hits 1 minute left, I begin to make my landing approach. 5 minutes is a bit on the conservative side. With my battery being on the lighter side, I had to add about 3 oz of weight in the nose area. I actually placed it in the underside of the canopy and covered it with an old credit card. She then balanced perfectly at the recommended CG.

Read up on RC Groups regarding the recommended modifications-especially the thrust mod. I can't tell if the thrust mod helped me because I don't have any prior experience with a before and after. Fellow pilots I know that also have this edf jet flew it before and after the thrust mod, and they have noticed a night and day difference. I definitely recommend to do this right out of the box.

I highly recommend this plane. It looks so cool in the sky. BBBBRRRRRRTTTTTT on fellow pilots!

Left main gear upper door came off on flight #5. Can't find it at the flying field and looks like the only way to get a replacement is to order a set of wings. Can you tell me the part number to get just the main gear doors? Lejon
