The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was the largest, heaviest, and most expensive fight aircraft in history to be powered by a single piston engine It was heavily armed with eight .50-caliber machine guns, four per wing. When fully loaded, the P-47 weighed up to eight tons, and in the fighter-bomber ground-attack roles could carry five-inch rockets or a significant bomb load of 2,500 pounds; it could carry over half the payload of the B-17 bomber on long-range missions (although the B-17 had a far greater range). The P-47, based on the powerful Double Wasp engine, was to be very effective as a short-to-medium range escort fighter in high-altitude air-to-air combat and, when unleashed as a fighter-bomber, proved especially adept at ground attack in both the World War II European and Pacific Theaters.

The P-47 was one of the main (USAAF) fighters of World War II, and served with other Allied air forces, notably those ofFrance,Britain, andRussia. Mexican and Brazilian squadrons fighting alongside theU.S.were equipped with the P-47.

This is my third Roc/Hobby plane and it is a little monster. This plane is so strong and stout, has a unbelievable paint job, wing tip lights you can see from a long way out, excellent landing gear, and with metal gear servos and ball links handles perfect in the air and on the ground. It flies where you point it, handles wind with ease, and is another 980mm FMS rocket ship you want in your stable. I am buying another one for my Grandson to fly 10 years from now so he can have a special plane that everyone will want.

Oh and the free gifts from FMS are always a great surprise.....

The Don
Glad to see another razorback offered by FMS. I love flying this plane. I put an APC 11 x 10E 2 blade prop on it and it really moves. I fly a 4S 3300 lipo and use full flaps for landing (about 40 degrees) and it comes in nice and slow even with the extra lipo weight. Make sure your CG is on location or a little forward. It can get sensitive in elevator at high speed if the CG is a too aft.

How does the high speed version fly at low speeds, because I am a intermediate pilot, if I fly the high speed version with a 3 cell battery, will I be able to slow it down enough, to match my skill level, I would rather have the option off 3or4 cell batt.

Hi Pita,
It can be able to slow it down. You can change the low speed version motor with the 3 cell battery.
